Derek Lothian currently serves as national manager, communications, with Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters (CME) – Canada's largest trade and industry association. His portfolio includes media relations, marketing, stakeholder engagement and partnership development. He also serves as the executive director of the Saskatchewan Manufacturing Council, and editorial director for CME's award-winning magazine, 20/20, which has been recognized one of the top five business publications in the country by the Canadian Business Press.

Originally from southern Saskatchewan, Derek is a graduate (dean's list) of Ottawa's Algonquin College, and sits on the board of directors for the Ottawa-Gatineau chapter of the Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS) and the Causeway Foundation, as well as the Community Services Cabinet of United Way/Centraide Ottawa.

At only 25 years of age, Derek already has more than eight years experience in public affairs, international business and strategic planning. He was a presenter at the 2012 CPRS National Conference in Victoria and is a past panelist with the National Post.
